The chilling truth

This is the chilling truth of the effect tik/ice has on the lives of the addicts, but most of all also on the lives of the immediate family. What is shocking is the lack of support from the government side. Living now in a first world country and looking back on where I came from, I can empathize with the desperation Ellen must have felt. No where to turn, no where to hide. I can only hope that this book will be used in knowledge sharing programs in schools and youth groups. I wish Ellen all the best - she is still living in a community affected on a daily basis by tik.

Written by Tony Johnston, who lived for many years in Mexico, this book introduces aspects of the land, culture, and history of that country suggested by letters of the alphabet: “A is for Adobe. . . . B is for Ballet Folklórico. . . .  Cis for Cacao. . . . D is for Diego Rivera,” and so on. Each single-page or double-page entry is accompanied by a two- or four-line rhyme for younger children and, in a vertical border, paragraphs of information for older readers. The alphabetical device inevitably makes for a rather haphazard arrangement of topics, and the rhymed couplets vary in quality. Still, the paragraphs of information are clearly written, often lively, and well worth reading; Parra’s paintings illustrate them with flair and distinction. The influence of Mexican paintings and murals is apparent in their fresh combination of folk-art elements, sound composition, and imaginative touches. A colorful introduction to Mexico. About the Author
Paul Thigpen, Ph.D., is an award-winning journalist and best-selling author. Among his most popular titles are The Rapture Trap (Ascension, 2001) and the novel My Visit to Hell (Realms, 2007). Dr. Thigpen’s writing reflects a wide variety of genres and subjects: history and biography, spirituality and apologetics, anthologies and devotionals, family life and children’s books, study guides and reference works, fiction and collections of poetry and prayers. In addition to the forty books he has authored or compiled, he has published more than five hundred journal, magazine, and newsletter articles in more than forty religious and secular periodicals for both scholarly and popular audiences. His work has been circulated worldwide and translated into twelve languages. A 1977 summa cum laude graduate of Yale University (in Religious Studies), Dr. Thigpen was awarded the George W. Woodruff Fellowship at Emory University, where he earned an M.A. (1993) and a Ph.D. (1995) in Historical Theology. In 1993 he was named as a Jacob K. Javits Fellow by the U.S. Department of Education. He has since served on the theology faculties of several universities and colleges and is currently the editor of TAN Books, based in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Paul Thigpen's new book, The Burden, just left me saying, "Wow!" This book is a call to action to repent and come back to our Lord. Our time is short, but God's mercy is forever. It is not by accident that I see Paul's words tying in with the words of our new Holy Father. You can't wait another day to purchase this prophetic book! Buy one for yourself and one for everyone you know. I truly believe this book was given to Paul by God. Wow!!!

Powerful Prophecy

This is a disturbing but very powerful work of synthesis and prophesy. I won't say I enjoyed it, because its message is raw and unnerving. But I will say it is timely, desperately needed in our world at this moment, and, oddly, reassuring.

There are times in the life of a child when he may be caught in some significant wrongdoing by an adult and held accountable for his actions. As unpleasant as that may be, he may later look back at that moment as crucial for his subsequent maturing into responsible adulthood.

Paul Thigpen's latest book offers us a similar encounter. His words are harsh, but not unwarranted. And, at a time that is seeing traditional morals and values swept away by demagoguery and populist jingoism, this call to repentance may provide us all with needed reminders of what is at stake if we refuse to acknowledge our errors and repent of our misdeeds.

The book is very good and addresses all Federal and State requirements. Very easy to understand and well written. I will be interested in getting the instructor training manual as soon as it becomes available. I miss having review questions at the end of each chapter. I also miss discussion questions for the students to discuss in class. I like the pictures showing skills being done, as it gives definite guidelines to follow.

Do not buy this item it does not provide any way of getting the answers and the company will not sell the answers to anyone that is not a nurse. If you are trying to self teach this is not the book for you.

The book was very informative. It really gave me the information I need to pass the CNA exam. I had all the information I needed to know before I purchased the item. The teacher told me what book to pay and it was right on. Getting used was also the way to go. The book was in real good shape and it had highlighted the main points I need to know so that was nice.
