The title is not an exaggeration

The author, who published this in anticipation of his death in 2012 by complications of ALS, does not exaggerate in his title (when qualified as GAY bondageboy).
He was an exceptional player in the gay bondage/bdsm world and was renowned for his bottoming skill. His memoirs do not focus much on his struggles to come out as gay (far more difficult than for him to come out as a bondage boy), but rather celebrate his liberation as he progressively embraces his kinky gay side through bondage and bdsm.
As he was confronting then embracing his kinky side with men, and coming to accept his homosexuality, he had progressively more exotic adventures that led him to be on the cover of various gay kinky magazines or featured in interior stories. He also wrote and published on-line stories loosely based on those adventures.
This memoir is an interweaving his emergence and development with stories he wrote and published on-line reflecting on those experiences.
I find doing so endearing.
From a literary perspective, the book reminds me a bit of Christopher Isherwood's "Christopher and his Kind" memoir--viz., an author looking back on his prior writings that were experience-based and trying to sort out the story from the experiential underpinnings. In no way am I suggesting that the writing in this memoir is any where in the league of Isherwood. It is not. Few books are. But it does, modestly, share the enterprise of trying to revisit an author's earlier writings in an autobiographical context. (I claim no more in the Isherwood comparison than this.) Judged by the level of BDSM writings--gay , bi, or straight--it fares well. It's strongest suit is unapologetic transparent honesty and insight to what made him tick in his relentless pursuit of being an exceptional gay bondageboy.

A "must read" memoir.

This is decinitely a "must read", especially for all those who had the priviledge and honor of knowing Rob. A truly honest, inspirational and rewarding autobiography of a great man.
