Daniel prophesied the rise of global government in your future

A number of prophets had a glimpse of the future, but God gave only one prophet a precise calendar of the end-times events that will affect the current generation.

Writing more than 2,500 years ago, Daniel described a series of cataclysmic events and the signs that will precede the end times. According to prophecy expert Grant R. Jeffrey, many of the signs that Daniel pointed to are visible in our world today.

Daniel’s vision reveals startling details about the identity of the coming Antichrist, his political career, his death, and his Satanic resurrection. After completing an exhaustive study of Daniel’s prophecies, Dr. Jeffrey presents a detailed description of the Antichrist’s rise as world dictator, the mark of the beast, and the political maneuvering that will set the stage for global government. In light of the Hebrew calendar and the cycle of Jewish festivals, Dr. Jeffrey uncovered precise dates for major apocalyptic events, including a timeline for the Antichrist’s rise to power, the major events of the Tribulation, and the timing of the Battle of Armageddon.

God allowed Daniel to see the world we will soon live in as we approach the time for the return of the Messiah. Now learn exactly what Daniel knew.

Introduction

The Babylon Prophecy

Babylon, both as a legendary ancient city and the first unrivaled world empire, has loomed large inmemory throughout human history. Six hundred years before Jesus came to earth, the Euphrates River Valley was home to the magnificent Babylonian Empire. The Babylonians had conquered the rest of the known world and brought untold numbers of people from the defeated kingdoms to Babylon as slaves.

Among the slaves was a youngman who was chosen byGod to become one of the greatest of the Hebrew prophets. God gave Daniel visions of the future and the ability to interpret dreams. While living in exile, Daniel recorded prophecies that some twenty-six centuries later give us a highly detailed look at our own future. Daniel saw the unfolding of human history and the days of Jesus Christ on earth. And as we will read in the chapters that follow, he saw the most detailed visions describing the end of the age–the days that we are about to enter.

We live in prophetic times, so it is not surprising that the land of Babylon– present-day Iraq and parts of present-day Iran–is the focus of international tension and the subject of daily news reports. Iraq is torn by violent insurgencies, armed factions fighting for control of the country, and sectarian violence that continually causes injury and death. Foreign fighters, devoted to the cause of Al Qaeda and radical Islam, enter Iraq to join militant groups, to help train terrorists, to battle against Western allied forces, and to plot the demise of the State of Israel.

THE POWER OF ANCIENT BABYLON

The name Babylon still evokes a powerful image of the greatest city of the ancient world. The name is derived from babel, a Hebrew word meaning “the gate of God.” Located fifty-six miles south of modern-day Baghdad in Iraq, it rapidly grew in power until it became the most important city inthe ancient world. Babylon is in an area originally known by the name Sumer, or Shinar, designating the fertile country lying between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. The land also was known as Mesopotamia, meaning “the land between the rivers.”

The first mention of Babylon in the Bible reveals that the city of Babel was founded by Nimrod, who was the son of Cush. “Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth. He was a mighty hunter before the LORD.… And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel” (Genesis 10:8—10). This was the site of the first widespread rebellion against God. The men of Babel built an enormous tower in an arrogant attempt to rebel against God and make themselves famous. “And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth” (Genesis 11:4). God’s response was to “confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech” (Genesis 11:7). In the confusion that resulted, “the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city” (Genesis 11:8). Scientists have verified the dispersion of humanity throughout three continents after the Flood (see Genesis 10:32; 11:8—9).

History records that much later, around 1760 BC, King Hammurabi made Babylon the political and religious capital of his very powerful but small empire.Hammurabi combined astute diplomacy with superbmilitary leadership to defeat the surrounding kingdoms inMesopotamia. He was the first major king who created a written code of laws, known as the Code of Hammurabi. He became the ruler of the first united Babylonian Empire, which extended fromthe Persian Gulf to theHabur Rivermore than amillennium before the rise of the Babylonian Empire of Nebuchadnezzar.

In the seventh century BC, under King Nabopolassar and later his famous son, Nebuchadnezzar, the new empire of Babylon waged continuous wars against neighboring kingdoms, laying waste to cities and carrying countless numbers of people into captivity. Most notable among the millions of captives were the Judeans of Israel, who were taken in three phases between 606 BC and 587 BC.

Some historical sources conclude that Nebuchadnezzar conquered Judah in 605 BC. However, a careful reading of the Scriptures reveals that the correct date is actually 606 BC. The prophet Jeremiah recorded, “The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, that was the first year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon” (Jeremiah 25:1). Jehoiakim’s “fourth year” was 605 BC. However, Daniel declared that Jerusalem was taken by Nebuchadnezzar’s army a year earlier, in the “third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah” (Daniel 1:1), which was the year 606 BC. The historian Henry Fynes Clinton also confirmed in his exhaustive chronological study of ancient history that Prince Nebuchadnezzar led his army against the Kingdom of Judah in the summer of 606 BC.

The Babylonian Empire did not endure for long, however. TheMedo- Persian Empire, led by the powerful kings Darius and Cyrus the Great, conquered the empire and the city of Babylon in 538 BC. But in the years that Nebuchadnezzar ruled the known world, God raised up Daniel, one of Israel’s greatest prophets.

DANIEL’S VISION OF OUR FUTURE

While serving in Babylon’s royal courts, Daniel saw remarkable visions and interpreted inspired dreams. Many of his visions foretold the upheaval in the world that came to pass more than two thousand years ago. In fact, the fulfillment of those prophecies verifies that Daniel was truly God’s prophet. His predictions came true exactly as they were given. However, many of Daniel’s most intriguing prophecies describe events that are still to come. The generation that you and I are part of will see the fulfillment of these last-days prophecies.

In this book we will examine all of Daniel’s prophecies–the ones that were fulfilled long ago and those that are soon to be fulfilled. Our generation will witness the rise of the Antichrist and the False Prophet, the Tribulation period, the Antichrist’s political and military domination of the world, the battle of Armageddon, and the return to earth of Jesus Christ. Daniel’s ancient Babylonian prophecies give us a precise time line that reveals the sequence of events and the amount of time that will separate the major developments of the last days. It is certain that the events Daniel described will occur during the current generation.

If you know what to look for, you will see that signs of the last days are appearing all around us. I invite you to join me in this study of Daniel’s prophecies. Together we will discover what the future holds for God’s people, as well as for those who wage war against God.

Excellent Book
By Ed
I highly recommend this book. It gives great historical accuracy as well as information about what is happening now in preparation for the end times. It also tells you how the believer is to live before the Lord's return. Daniel in the Old Testament was a great example of how to live in spite of the circumstances around him.

There are a few minor details I disagree with such as the Anti-Christ being referred to as the "King of Babylon" and the Assyrian. I also disagree that Babylon will be rebuilt; I believe it's a reference to Rome. They're one of those things where you have to read this book and decide for yourself. Aside from those minor details, I heartily recommend this book.

Historical. Interesting. Insightful. Revealing.
By Jeffrey E Ellis
COUNTDOWN TO THE APOCALYPSE is an insightful and interesting study of the book of Daniel and end-times Biblical prophecy.

Grant Jeffrey takes the morning headlines and presents them in the context of Bible prophecy -how and where they fit into future events. The most modern concepts of global warming, cashless economic systems, bio-data chips and the rebirth of military engines in the former Soviet Union, China, India, Japan and other countries were foretold 2,500 years ago to a humble servant of God, Daniel.

Grant draws from the most revealing and detailed Biblical texts in Daniel, Revelation, Ezekiel and the four gospels to paint a picture of the times leading up to the second coming of Christ. He pulls together historical documents to fully explain the events which have already occurred and some which are nearly upon us.

It is fascinating to read about the "signs of the times" in which we live and to be reminded of the hope and glory of the expected end: the triumphant return of the King.

Managed Services In Less Than a Year!
By Joshua D. Liberman
We entered into the Managed Services arena pretty late, about four years ago now. I wish I had read this in 2010 rather than last year. Had I written this book myself here in New Mexico, it might have been named Managed Services in a Decade. But Karl's book helped me turn that into managed services in a year. All in all, probably the most focused and useful book of half a dozen I've read on the topic. Highly recommended

Karl writes in an easy to understand style
By Shield Computer Care
The author truly knows the subject inside and out! Karl writes in an easy to understand style. I believe that anyone that wants to become a Managed Services provider MUST own this book. At my company, Shield Computer Care, we have been applying his 'step by step' approach and it really REALLY works. We prepared for the transition from 'break/fix' for a couple of months. In just the last two weeks we have gone from ZERO DOLLARS in recurring monthly revenue to over $25,000 annually...and we have only just begun. Thanks to Karl's guidance, we are rapidly moving toward our goal of $300,000 in annual recurring revenue. Buy the book. Read it. Apply it. If we can do it, you can too.

Good book, for what it is. Essentially it's a bunch of longform blog posts stitched into a book. It's good to get an idea of how to run an MSP at a high level.

Living High and Letting Die: Our Illusion of Innocence, by Peter Unger

By contributing a few hundred dollars to a charity like UNICEF, a prosperous person can ensure that fewer poor children die, and that more will live reasonably long, worthwhile lives. Even when knowing this, however, most people send nothing, and almost all of the rest send little. What is the moral status of this behavior? To such common cases of letting die, our untutored response is that, while it is not very good, neither is the conduct wrong. What is the source of this lenient assessment? In this contentious new book, one of our leading philosophers argues that our intuitions about ethical cases are generated not by basic moral values, but by certain distracting psychological dispositions that all too often prevent us from reacting in accord with our commitments. Through a detailed look at how these tendencies operate, Unger shows that, on the good morality that we already accept, the fatally unhelpful behavior is monstrously wrong. By uncovering the eminently sensible ethics that we've already embraced fully, and by confronting us with empirical facts and with easily followed instructions for lessening serious suffering appropriately and effectively, Unger's book points the way to a compassionate new moral philosophy.

Review

"Unger has pioneered a new way of testing and exploring our intuitions, with results that are devastating for traditional ideas of how to do ethics. This will shake normative ethics to its roots. A major work of fundamental importance both to moral philosophy and to the poor of this world. Important in a practical way, as well as in an academic way."--Peter Singer, Princeton University

"A terrifically powerful piece of work, and its publication will make a nuclear-sized explosion."--Jonathan Bennett, Syracuse University

"Unger's vigorous investigation of irrationalities in our daily thinking...suggests convincingly that we owe others far more than we typically think we do. This, then, is a book on a topic of great importance, written with much moral passion by a skillful and ingenious philosopher."--Martha Nussbaum, London Review of Books

"A very fine book...carefully argued, imaginative, fearless."--David Lewis, Eureka Street

"[Unger's] discussion of how much the well-off should sacrifice for the world's most needy stands as the state-of-the-art treatment of the subject."--Brad Hooker, Times Literary Supplement

"Unger's book is full of subtle and oddly entertaining cases to support his view....[He handles conterarguments] with stunningly effective simplicity."--Globe and Mail

"Unger challenges our moral beliefs with arguments that are always powerful, and often original. Everyone who can understand these arguments ought, I believe, to read and think about this book."--Derek Parfit, author of Reasons and Persons

"Living High & Letting Die will annoy many students and faculty--which is a good thing. Unger challenges and illuminates our moral thinking in a direct, forceful way, causing students to engage in moral reasoning and moral psychology with more passion than is ordinarily the case. I used Unger's book alongside a standard anthology in ethical theory in An Introduction to Ethics course. The book's presentation is clear and understandable to undergraduates, and the examples are interesting, thought-provoking, and make doing philosophy fun. Challenge and incite your students with this book!"--Tobyn DeMarco, Hunter College, City University of New York

"Students either love or hate Living High & Letting Die--bored indifference is not an option. Unger's book prods, provokes, infuriates, and inspires. His ingenious and passionate arguments compell students to examine their beliefs as precious few do. They illustrate the significance and urgency of ethical decision-making, and powerfully demonstrate that philosophy can be much more than an abstract, theoretical, barren discipline."--Larry Temkin, Rice University

From the Back Cover
By sending a few hundred dollars to a group like UNICEF, any well-off person can ensure that fewer poor children die, and that more live reasonably long, worthwhile lives. But even when knowing this, almost all of us send nothing and, among the contributors, most send precious little. What's the moral status of this behavior? To such common cases of letting die, our untutored response is that, while it's not very good, neither is the conduct wrong. How can we best explain this lenient intuitive assessment? In this hard-hitting new book, philosopher Peter Unger argues that, all too often, our moral intuitions about cases are generated not by the basic moral values we hold, but by psychological dispositions that prevent us from reacting in accord with our deep moral commitments. Through a detailed look at how these disorienting tendencies operate, Unger reveals that, on the good morality we already accept, our fatally unhelpful behavior is monstrously wrong. Confronting us with both arresting facts and easily followed instructions for lessening the suffering of youngsters in mortal danger, Living High and Letting Die can help us live the morally decent lives that agree with our wonderfully deep, and deeply wonderful, true moral values.

About the Author

Peter Unger is Professor of Philosophy at New York University. He is the author of Ignorance (OUP 1975, 2002), Philosophical Relativity (1984, OUP 2002), and Identity, Consciousness, and Value (OUP 1990).

After reading this book, I started contributing more to charity
By DJR
Peter Unger makes a detailed and compelling case for regarding widespread suffering in developing countries as equivalent to suffering in one's own neighborhood. After reading this book, there are few reasons left for sitting on one's hands in the face of this suffering.

Other readers claim that the book's arguments rest on poorly supported utilitarian premises. Although Dr. Unger does work from a utilitarian frame of reference, I believe the logic of his arguements stand alone and the same conclusions could be reached using a different ethical framework.

It is common for ethicists to construct elaborate theories that explain why the conventional wisdom and practices of society are morally correct. Dr. Unger's contrarian view is both controversial and important. I can imagine that some readers will find the position taken in this book difficult to accept because it makes us question the morally upstanding life that most of us assume we are living.

Although this book is intended for the academic philosopher, it deserves to be read by a much larger audience.

Ingenious and important defense of Peter Singer's pond case
By Ben
I am morally obligated to jump into a pond to save a drowning child's life, even if that would ruin my expensive suit. Why, then, am I not morally obligated to send a check to Oxfam if that would save a child's life and cost the same amount of money? There are many differences between the pond case and the Oxfam case. Unger carefully examines these differences and argues that our obligations in the Oxfam case match our obligations in the pond case.

Importantly, Unger does not derive his conclusion from a controversial theory such as utilitarianism. Rather, he begins by considering (e.g.) the suggestion that the pond case and the Oxfam case differ in terms of one's physical proximity to the victim (i.e. the person in need of aid). He then considers multiple cases that differ *only* in terms of one's physical proximity to the victim, noting that one's moral obligations are not affected. He concludes that physical proximity to the victim is not morally relevant. He does this with a variety of the differences between the pond case and the Oxfam case.

Unger also considers differences between the pond case and the Oxfam case that *are* morally relevant, e.g. the relative certainty of being able to save the victim's life. He then asks (e.g.) whether we would be obligated to dive into the pond if we were unsure whether we would be able to save the child's life. Obviously the answer is "yes." Again, Unger does this with a variety of the differences between the pond case and the Oxfam case. He concludes that we have a moral obligation to send aid to the distant needy.

This book is an important, readable, and concise reply to those who claim that Peter Singer's pond case and the Oxfam case are not analogous.

Unger not necessarily Utilitarian
By John S. Ku
Contrary to a couple of previous reviews posted here, both favorable and unfavorable, Unger neither argues for nor presupposes Utilitarianism or consequentialism. Nor does he need to. It is true that his conclusions bear a superficial similarity to utilitarianism in being quite demanding, but he argues this on the basis of fairly fundamental intuitions that nearly all of us accept already. His strategy is such that ANY moral theory (whether deontological, consequentialist or other) must take a stance on which aspects of the hypotheticals he presents are morally relevant. If we are to avoid such implausible conclusions as that physical proximity or salience of others' needs are morally relevant factors, I think we cannot avoid his primary conclusion that nearly all of us act wrongly by not giving much more to certain charities than we currently do.
Anyone who knows enough about this book to have read this far ought to read and grapple with the arguments presented in this book. Some of the more radical positions he defends may in the end turn out to be wrong but I think they certainly cannot be dismissed out of hand. This book will prove to be valuable to anyone concerned with doing the right thing as well as to intellectuals interested in the place of moral intuitions in moral inquiry (and as Unger points out, the dangers of relying too heavily on certain of those intuitions).

sexy shifter series!
By K. April Holgate
This was a shorter read in the series. A really good story about two opposites attracting. Predator and Prey make a love match!

Venny is a great character, independent and strong. It is too bad she does not see her own uniqueness as a plus. But it is easy to think you are wrong when that is all you ever here.

Athon started out as a bit of a jerk but then you find that is just his gruff exterior. He ends up being deliciously Alpha and uber supportive!

Another great tall about the Crossroad and I can not wait to see more of the residents stories!

A little light on the steam. The sex scene was totally hot and heavy but there could have been more. We sort of skimmed the whole in heat phase!

Love that the author gives you a tidbit about who's story is next! It makes you eager to jump into the next book!

I loved this story
By Ashley Gibson
This is the tale of Venny (an albino reindeer) who finds the man she was promised to as a mate with her cousin. She travels to the crossroads where she meets Athon (a lone wolf). From the moment they meet the sparks fly. Venny is in heat and needs to mate and Athos is determined that he be the only candidate.

I loved this story, all was not smooth sailing between venny and athon, which is often how it works. But these two lonely people finally found love and acceptance within each others arms.

Outstanding series
By Loves to read and review
This is the fourth book I've read in this series and I'm looking forward to the rest. They are short enough for me (who reads 485 wpm) to be able to enjoy the great sex scenes, the interesting plots, which are completely different for each book, and still finish a few books before going to bed. There is excellent character development, some fun fights and love in the end. Who can ask for more?

Exceptional Information
By Necole Langford
This was a great book. I had the privilege of being a student in Dr. Bramlett-Solomon's class at ASU and it was amazing. The book is easy to follow and the chapters are short. Even though the chapters are short, you learn a great deal in a short amount of time. I give this 5 stars. Every university should have this book for their Communications departments.
